I loved creating little home businesses in The Sims 2 and after Inge made the Ticket Machine for The Sims 3, I wanted to continue on that theme.
You can use Inge's Ticket Machine for just getting customers to your home business if you set the price per hour to §0. That way you'll only get paid if you sell something. Also, make sure that there is not an open fridge on the lot or your potential customers will just grab something from the fridge instead of ordering from the bar!
The twist that this mod brings to your game is that unlike townie bartender, your sim can only serve the drinks that he can make. So to please the customers your sim has to practice making drinks. As high-skill drinks are more expensive too, that pays off.
Interactions:
New interactions for all professional bars:
- Tend The Bar
- Set As Business Bar (No Pay - No Drinks)
- Set As Home Bar (No Pay for Drinks)
Tend The Bar
Lets your sims tend the bar as townie bartender would. Your sim will stay tending the bar until he gets some urgent needs. Don't mix Tend The Bar with Manage Bar. Manage Bar is the original interaction in professional bars that lets you tend the bar, but you are not getting paid.
As I wanted this mod to work on all professional bars, I don't have as good control over actions as I would with a regular object mod. The payment happens right after the drink has been made and there are no discounts, tips or tab.
Sometimes the customer loses interest in getting the drink, maybe the wait is too long or something. You'll still get paid.
Set As Business Bar (No Pay - No Drinks)
This is for the times when you are not tending the bar, but you won't want others grabbing free drinks on the house. This does not stay on automatically, but you'll have to select this every time you stop tending the bar.
Set As Home Bar (No Pay for Drinks)
When customers have gone home, this enables the drink-making options again, so that your family may have drinks.

Inge - for the Ticket Machine and suggesting this mod
This is really awesome misu!
ReplyDeleteYay your so awesome!
ReplyDeleteCaterpillar and Kosmo, thank you!
ReplyDeleteWould you ever consider creating a DJ npc mod
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting idea. I'll put it in the backburner. But I have so many other ideas, that probably I will not do that. But we'll see.
DeleteThanks for the idea.
Awe shucks I've been wanting to ask you sooner but I love all your mods can't wait to see your upcoming ones
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you asked. I love to get new ideas for mods!
DeleteThanks!
Are there any plans for similar mods to this with say the pet register or food register or even the book register?
ReplyDeleteActually, yes there are :)
DeleteI'm not sure whether it is Inge or me who will do them, but I definitely want to be able to create home shops - of all types. But I want to update my existing role mods to be compatible with home bar business first.
This sounds awesome, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAwesome! :D I've been using Twallan's Story Progression mods which give roles to all the sims in the game making the game much more alive. Sims (NPC ones) no longer go home and simply stand there staring at a wall when your sim isn't around. Even gives roles to the food truck and ice cream truck.

Just recently he added sicknesses and diseases to the game. (his Vector Mod) It's still in the early stages but works very well imho.
I'm a fan of Twallan's mods myself. I use quite a bunch of them in my game. I especially like the Register and Careers.
DeleteNow what would be cool would be to have his Career and Story Progression mods recognize these mods and work hand in hand with them. His Story Progression mods add a LOT of life and flair to the game. And if you configure the immigration settings right, unexpected events too!
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI love your Sims hair! O: Where did you get it?
Lol, I have no idea. It is quite an old hair, so I cannot even remember the creator.
DeleteYou should be able to find it by looking at either ModTheSims hair gallery or using labeled searches in MySims3Blog. That is where I search for my hairs.
I really hope you do the cash registers to be enabled for a home business like the bar as I've seen a comment that Inge has no plans to mod the registers.
ReplyDeleteThat would be so amazing! : )
I'm planning to do something along the line of home shopping, but I'm not sure if that will include making cash registers usable at home. We'll see.
DeleteI hope you will be updating or letting us know soon if this and your other mods are still compatible with 1.38. Thanks! : )
ReplyDeleteLabor Day weekend, give her time. :P I'm quite sure it will be update soon.
ReplyDeleteany idea when those mods will be out? really want a restaurant from home.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if this mod still works with patch 1.67-169?
